🍂 [AKT Part 1] | The Perfect Gift

Several days have passed since you accepted your invitation. A swirling restlessness fills your gut as you stare at the elegantly written letter, unsure of the next step to take. You tried asking about it, you tried forgetting it, you've even considered tossing it on impulse. A strange letter from a strange creature can't be a good sign.  The spike of anxiety at the consideration is unnatural, and lessens once the letter is placed back where you'd left it last. Ok, so you can't throw it away...

Asking around led to mumbled replies of uncertainty, some choosing not to speak either bashfully or fearfully, leaving you with no more understanding until a group of older Crederians sitting nearby under an awning barks out a "HEY, YOU!" The group sits at a cafe wafting a sweet spiced smell that most have been waiting all year for,' the beverages on the table echoing that sentiment. Before you can utter a greeting, the group energetically begins to chatter, paws and hooves crunching on crimson leaves underneath in their excitement.

"There will be food, drink!"
 "I think last time there were empty placements for things the guests would bring..."
"A King's celebration requires gifts! He's definitely going to ask, 'What have you brought?'"
"I wouldn't want to be caught empty handed..."
"You've already started right? Of course you have! You don't want to know what happens if you don't have a gift!"
"You don't even know what happens, you've never been invited."
"Hey!"

The lot of old Crederians laugh and argue and continue to sip their spiced drinks as you stand there awkwardly. One of the group settles for a moment to assuage any worries. "It's not so dire, a gift given is a sign of respect for the host. It doesn't have to be big, but it should be thoughtful. Go on then, you don't have all the time in the world, haha~" They reach a wrinkled paw to their cup as you sputter a thank you to the group, turning to leave before the leaves clinging to the Crederian's hair catch your eye; You watch them gently detatch and fall to the ground to lay with the rest, seeing the clear lack of leaves around the rest of the table. Meeting their gaze they give you a wink before turning to chat with their companions once more.

Looks like it's time to search for a gift...

Finding a gift fit for whoever is hosting this party feels impossible, but you have to start somewhere. Do you make something? Buy something? What does the host even like?! Chatter among others who have recieved a letter give the idea that The Autumn King enjoys artisinal tools, music, tea, spices, foraged goods, pressed leaves, knit sweaters, finely made pelts, gemstones, carved figures, books, a myriad of foods fresh or preserved, and so much more you're unsure if any of them are telling the truth...
