Spring Cleaning II
"Hmmm...," he rumbled, humming his discomfort for the amount of mess that accumulated throughout his house. Blaidd had been slacking lately, at least in the washing department. Often he came home too late and too tired to clean. He couldn't ignore the pile of dishes nor the few garbs of clothing strewn about the floor. The dust settled into everything, giving the home a bit of a musty smell. Blaidd often tracked mud in as well.
His ears folded back against his head as he sighed in defeat. He needed a day off for once, only to be working on the cleanliness of his abode.
His first task was to wash all of the dishes. They were piled and crusted with food. Blaidd wouldn't be surprised if some had molded by now, causing him to groan more. How could he let it get this bad? He filled the sink with water and soap, stacking as much as he could into the tub to soak for a few minutes, letting any dried food come up and off. He'd then start scrubbing them, one by one. It took him a good hour to get through all of them, now assembling them to the side where they dried off.
Blaidd could finally cook himself some breakfast now that some of his dishware was clean. It was a nice reward after all the work he put in... though that just meant he had to dirty them. That didn't discourage him though! He enjoyed his breakfast, sipping his coffee leisurely. And, once he was done and the plate was empty, Blaidd would wash them and place them amongst the rest of the clean ware.
Next was to pick up all of the strewn clothes from the floor, piling them in his arms and throwing them into a basket. He would pick it up, walking out to the front yard where he would wash each item. Some of them were delicate, and he took time to be a bit gentler. He'd wring each item until he couldn't muster any moisture out and then shake them out as to not wrinkle them. Blaidd would then hang an article of clothing on a line to dry. The late morning sun was warm and a small breeze floated in the air—a perfect atmosphere to dry clothes.
Once he was all done with that task, Blaidd stood out in the yard, staring at his work proudly. He breathed in as each breeze passed by, feeling so satisfied with himself. The day wasn't over though, and he had much to do.
He would tread back inside, careful not to track in any more dirt. The blue mantibab would take up his old broom and sweep the floors. He'd fling any large clumps out the door, which gave him the idea to sweep everything out the door. Much easier than picking it up in a pan to throw it out. He'd only do a small mopping of the floors, but he wasn't too keen on scrubbing the entire layout of his house. He'd only do so to the hallway since it was visibly crusted in mud.
The space already felt better, which made him feel better. Blaidd had felt so tired and worn to the bone for a few days, but now that his house was fresh and clean, he sighed in relief. For the rest of the afternoon, he was having snacks and tea, opening the windows to let fresh air in.
Life was good in the spring.
