Feast Part II
The warm morning sun felt so nice upon her pelt. Dark fur was perfect for soaking up the warmth. Yura wasn't the only leloko around, lazing in the sun across a strip of lawn for those that didn't necessarily need food for sustenance. She only needed the sun to feel satisfied and energized. The warmth lulled her into a nap, feeling tranquil and relaxed until there was a disruption in the heat as if someone had blocked the sun from her fur.
There sure was.
"Yura, good to see you're back in time for the festival," said a voice, smooth and familiar. An annoyingly soft and gentle hum that irritated her ears. Opening an eye, squinting against the surrounding rays, she could barely see who it was, but she knew. "Looking as annoyed as ever."
Another dark leloko hovered above her, smiling just as gently as his voice. "Come on, you could at least sit with me while I eat." Shabriri moved back, letting the sun shine down on Yura once more. She closed her eye and sighed, suddenly rolling over onto her stomach and standing. She shook her coat out from any stray strands of grass and dust before begrudgingly following the older leloko. Shabriri had been around since she was a little kit, essentially acting like her bigger brother. She only found him irritating.
Yura followed quietly behind Shabriri, glancing around at all of the festivities around her. It was noisy and the smell of food was pungent. Not like she could talk, so she didn't get the point of socializing nor did she care to. Although Shabriri often got on her nerves, Yura did respect the older leloko and didn't want to argue with him. So she followed him as he snaked his way through the crowd and ended up at a full table. It was stacked with meats, veggies, and even desserts. Yura wrinkled her nose as none of it looked remotely good, but what did she know? She only needed the sun. Food was not something she needed, nor something she could actively consume.
Shabriri, on the other hand, needed food to bring him back from the winter fog. He did not hesitate to grab a sausage and immediately shove it in his mouth. Yura scowled.
"Oh hey, good to see you again," said a voice across the table. Yura glanced over and noticed a familiar kanti munching on some sweets. The same one that escorted her to the fairgrounds after waking from her hibernation. She turned her nose up though, not interested in socializing with him. It was bad enough that Shabriri forced her to sit here.
"Sorry, she's kind of standoffish," Shabriri responded, elbowing his little sister in the chest. The kanti laughed but shook his head.
"Don't worry about it. I escorted her here, so I'm aware she can be a bit grumpy," Lothric smiled, continuing his munching.
"Ah, this is the one you escorted?" Another kanti sat next to him, blue in hue with scales adorning their pelt. Yura tilted her head a bit, confused at the sight of this rare kanti, but obviously couldn't voice her concerns. Shabriri noticed this and again elbowed her in the chest.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Lothric and this is Sellen, a friend of mine," the red kanti said, nodding toward both leloko. "Since she can't talk, I never got her name."
"Ah," Shabriri responded, clearing his throat. "I'm Shabriri, and this is my little sister Yura. It's nice to meet the both of you and thank you for escorting her here."
"Just doing my job to help out," Lothric nodded, accepting the appreciation.
The four of them sat at the table, eating away at the feast in front of them until the surface was nearly vacant of anything edible. Empty plates scattered around them. Yura was resting her head on the table, dozing off as the other three conversed. Not like she could contribute in any way, she figured she could take a nap and not be missed.
"It was nice to meet you again, Yura. And nice to meet you, Shabriri. I gotta get ready for the jousting event though, so I'll see you later," Lothric said, standing from his seat. Sellen watched him before standing themself.
"I'll go with you, I'd like to watch," he called, standing to follow the red kanti off to the jousting tent.
"Alright, nice to meet you as well. Good luck in your competition!" Shabriri waved, smiling as the two kanti trotted off into the crowd.
"Come on, Yura," the leloko said, nudging his sister. "Let's go home, I know you want to just rest." Yura peeled her eyes open and glanced at her brother before sliding off the table to follow him into the city to his home.
More feast shenanigans with Yura and her older brother Shabriri... they even meet up with Lothric and Sellen!
